That’s fantasyland. This is real life. And in order to succeed in real life, you’ve got to optimize the machines you’ve been gifted by nature: Your body and mind.
Your body is the engine of your success that functions at a higher capacity when it’s well maintained. So it’s of utmost importance to take care of your physical health as well as your mental health. When you’re physically and mentally energized, you will produce higher quality work in shorter periods of time.
It’s important not to overwork or exhaust yourself either. Keep in mind that people become far less productive after 8 hours of continuous work. Because people wear down just like machines that have been running for too long. But when you’re well rested, you are far more efficient. So be sure to get 6-8 quality hours of sleep every night.
Next, you need to figure out what time of day you are the most productive. The majority of people perform best in the morning, after they’ve had a good night’s sleep. So consider when you find yourself most energized and creative.
Then you’ve got to train yourself to become a master of self-motivation. Your thoughts have a massive impact on your emotional state, so make sure that the number one support of you is YOU. As a matter of fact, 95% of our emotions are from the result of how we talk to ourselves. Your thoughts create your perception of reality, so aim to be optimistic. Find the good in everything, learn from your mistakes, and look for solutions to any problems you may encounter.
Remember that positive thinking empowers you, making you more confident, creative, and better at handling challenging tasks. So remind yourself on the regular that you kick ass—even if you don’t believe it at first. Because, in time, you will.
